With the new Windows Mobile release, standard users do not have the option to create new documents on their mobile devices using the Office Mobile Suite. However, this is not a tragic situation because here is a simple solution that comes to get around this idea from Microsoft not to allow creation.
Note: For this to work you will have to use any version of Microsoft Office except Microsoft Office 2007, which for the time being does not support Office Mobile for Windows Mobile Standard.
1. Open Microsoft Word on your computer.
2. Click File -> Save as...
3. In the File Name field enter New Word Doc.dot and click Save.
4. Using Windows Explorer browse to where you have just saved the file.
5. Right click it and select Properties.
6. At the bottom of the window check the box next to where it says Read-Only. Now click OK.
7. Connect your Windows Mobile device to your comptuer.
8. Now you will have to browse to the \My Documents folder on the device and copy the file from your hard drive to this folder.
9. Launch Word on your Windows Mobile device.
10. Select New Word Doc from the open menu. Here is your blank new word document.
11. Press Menu -> Edit so you can type in the document.
Since the original file is marked as Read-Only you won't be allowed to save over it, and therefore it will prompt you to save the document before closing the application.
