How To Speed Up PDF Display

Adobe Reader is an application that allows you to view and print PDF files. It includes a browser plugin for viewing PDF files directly in a web browser such as Firefox
or Mozilla Suite. Adobe Reader 6 and the browser plugin automatically load a large number of components when they are opened, which can slow down your computer. You can solve many problems just by upgrading to the latest version of Adobe Reader, currently 8.0 on Windows and Mac and 7.0.9 on Linux. But if this still doesn't help try one of the following:

Adobe Reader Speedup

The Adobe Reader Speedup program disables many of the unnecessary components. Adobe Reader SpeedUp is a simple application that was created to help make the loading time of Adobe's Acrobat/Reader software bearable for everyday use.

1. Go and download the program from here ( http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk/software/index.php?type=supported&id=7F7290B5 ).
2. Launch the Adobe Reader SpeedUp program.
3. If Adobe Reader is not installed in the default location, you will have to change the setting in Adobe Reader Speedup's settings.

a) In the main window click Change Settings.

b) In the new window by using the Browse button you will have to point to the correct location.

Click Save.
4. Check the Speed Up box and click Next.
5. Adobe Reader SpeedUp comes with two profiles: Fast and Turbo. It is recommended that you choose Fast.

Alternatively, you can pick and mix plugins you want to enable. By clicking the Plugin Help button a window will appear where you will find information about the plugin.

When you are done, click Start.

Manual method

1. Open the Adobe Reader plug_ins folder, e.g., C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Reader\plug_ins.
2. Create a new folder named optional, e.g., C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Reader\plug_ins\optional.
3. Move all files and folders from the Adobe Reader plug_ins folder to the Adobe Reader optional folder, except for these files:
eBook.api
EWH32.api
Search.api
